Alright, time for the next entry in
my blog! Today’s blog is going to be
about…Cartoon Network! Yesterday we went
to pick up our son for the weekend and we have been watching cartoons most of
the morning today. Now and days I don’t
really have much of a problem with most of the cartoons they show. Spongebob is a little annoying, Gumball is a
little dumb, and Timmy Turner is a little rude, but I still don’t have a
problem with any of them. The ones that
I do have a problem with however, mostly exist on cartoon network.
One
specific show that I cannot stand and will not let my son watch is Uncle
Grandpa. Everything about this show
irritates me. I’ve only seen bits of it
but everything that I have seen has just been so incredibly stupid that I just
cannot bring myself to let him watch any of it.
Not to mention the title of it. I
can’t help but think of incest when I hear that title. Has anyone out there found anything good
about this show? Let me know if you have
and if you have a good enough argument maybe I’ll change my mind, but I
wouldn’t hold my breath.
Another
show that I personally can’t stand is Teen Titans Go!. I will still let my son watch it because he
loved the original series, but I can’t help but feel that it teaches such bad
morals. I watched an episode with my son
that talked about vegetables and then the veggies tried to take over and the
teen titans decided that the veggies weren’t good for them. Same with books and soccer. This show just will not impress me in the
slightest.
Then there’s the commercials for
it. It’s just a small thing but it
really gets under my skin. Now and days
there are so many broken families and combination families and blended families
that I really believe its important for children to know that a family member
doesn’t have to be related to you by blood to make them your family. As a step mom, I want my child to look at me
and my parents as his family. We don’t
look at him as my step son. We see him
as MY son. I never want him to feel like
he isn’t.
This stupid commercial that I can’t
stand talks innocently enough about how the teen titans all live together even
though they aren’t related. That part is
fine. The next part though, that talks
about how they AREN’T family just gets under my skin so badly. When I was younger and watched the original
series they made, I always felt that they were all family even if they weren’t
blood related. And telling kids that
they are not family makes me want to change the channel every time the
commercial even just comes on tv.
I want my baby to understand that
anyone can be family if they love each other.
Well, so much for my ranting
